If your question is not answered below, please visit the Feedback page to
contact us.
Q. Why was the ITNovaScotia.com portal
created? A. ITNovaScotia.com was created
as one single resource where people interested in the Nova Scotian IT community
can find the information they're looking for. Our goals include providing the
most comprehensive directory of IT specific companies in our province, while
providing news and event links to help you keep on top of what's going on right
here in Nova Scotia.
Q. Why restrict yourself to Nova Scotia?
Why focus only on the IT industry? A. We've all seen places that
spread themselves too thin covering too much, that try to do everything well and
do nothing great. We're excited about the technology industry in our province,
and we want to ensure it gets the attention it deserves. Branching out and
adding random bells & whistles that just don't make sense isn't for us -
we're here to be THE IT Industry community portal for Nova Scotia,
period.
Q. Are you associated with any private organizations
such as ITANS, or CIPS? A. No, we're not. While we're sure that
ITANS and CIPS do an excellent job of representing their members, ITNovaScotia.com is intended
to help promote and enhance the IT community in Nova Scotia
overall.
Q. Are you associated with the Nova Scotia Government
in any way? A. We're not affiliated with any of the variety of
agencies within the Nova Scotia government, such as NSBI, that promote Nova
Scotia generally as a business destination. There are also agencies at the
municipal level across our province, and we support the efforts of those groups,
but ITNovaScotia is a community driven site, and we're not affiliated with those
agencies.
Q. What technology is the website built
on? A. ITNovaScotia.com uses a
flexible .NET portal system called "DotNetNuke® (DNN)". This is an Open Source Framework used
around the world for creating professional and flexible web applications.
Through the use of CSS, JavaScript and DHTML, DNN allows us to provide a dynamic
and engaging site optimized for current browsers. The development team at
Schooner Solutions customized and tailored it to meet the needs of ITNovaScotia.com.
Q.
What are enhanced listings, and how do they work? A. Enhanced
listings in our extensive directory are simply another way for your company to
draw attention to it's unique identity and service offerings. The mechanics are
outlined on the advertising page and are the same for advertising opportunities.
You simply contact us via email with the information about your company and
associated graphic, you're invoiced only when your information is approved and
published, and the relevant fee is due within thirty days. The information is
removed if payment is not made.
Q. Why do you perform the directory listing updates
yourselves? A. By reviewing and posting all directory
updates ourselves, we can ensure the information presented is appropriate for
the site and consistent. We're able to validate details of the information (such
as confirming listed firms have locations in Nova Scotia), and protect the
integrity of the directory by discouraging frivolous changes to listings.
Companies with basic entries in the directory are free to submit contact
information or category changes as required, and those who have taken advantage
of Enhanced listings may provided updated logo or a description of their service
& product offerings at any time.
