The Waterloo-based company has begun operating out of an initial location at thirty-six Solutions Drive in Halifax. In November of 2005, RIM announced it would open a new centre in Halifax. RIM's new Halifax operation is expected to create up to twelve-hundred jobs over a five-year period. Nova Scotia Business Inc. Is contributing a fourteen-million-dollar payroll rebate. The Office of Economic Development is also contributing with a five-million-dollar training and recruitment package.
Premier Rodney MacDonald says that RIM's innovation, drive and energy are reflective of Nova Scotia's skilled I-T professionals.
