CGI Group Inc. (CGI) reported third quarter net earnings from continuing operations before restructuring costs today of $46.4 million or 14 cents per share on revenue of $866.5 million. This compares with $34.8 million or 10 cents per share in the previous quarter. In the quarter's results were pre-tax restructuring costs related to specific items of $15.0 million. Including these costs, CGI net earnings were $35.9 million, or 11 cents per share compared with 14.1 million or 4 cents per share in the previous quarter.

Chief information officers (CIOs) expect an uptick in information technology (IT) hiring in the third quarter of 2006, according to the Robert Half Technology IT Hiring Index and Skills Report. Almost 15% of executives polled plan to add IT staff in the next three months, and 3% anticipate cutbacks.
