The latest in modern technology is making its way into Atlantic Canada. Cumberland Satellite Services of Springhill is now set up to install Satellite Internet services to rural customers. “This is a well used principal that has been around in the States for awhile,” Troy Henwood, owner of Cumberland Satellite said. “This system runs off a modem in the same principal that other high speeds run, except this signal is draw in through a satellite receiver.” Henwood is tied in with Xplornet, a company in New Brunswick that uses the latest equipment from some of the world’s leading technology companies...

For business users in rural areas I don't think that "gaming" is their main concern.

Yes for anything that is latency dependent it is not a great option, such as for VOIP, but for those needing faster than dialup connections it is about the only solution right now in rural areas. Don't get it isn't always an option when the alternatives are no access.

This isn't the same as Bell had offered, this is a 2way communication through the dish not using the phone line. Yes Elvis, its not meant for gaming or high traffic downloads but is a better solution than dial up service with speeds upto 2mb per second. We hooked up over 200 customers to date and all seemed satisfied with the service.
