 CGI shoring up its business

The CGI Group’s model for offering technical services to businesses means growth for the company in Atlantic Canada, says the Montreal firm’s senior vice-president for the region.

"Information technology is alive and well in Atlantic Canada," Cecil Smith said in an interview in Halifax on Wednesday. "There’s shifting work that’s going on around this model of near-shore, offshore. We are part of that, very successfully, and a lot of it is the result of the CGI scale, which allows us to play in that space."

"Atlantic Canada is part of a global delivery model within CGI. We have operations in lots of different centres India, the U.S., Canada and we have this ability to give to clients that are global in nature, the ability to put work where it makes the most sense for them." ...

they've been shoring it up by hiring all kinds of people from everywhere. heard they are paying well, but might be some rough times with their biggest outsourcing contract...
