Atlantic Canada – Aliant, Atlantic Canada's leading information and communications technology provider, announced today the launch of a satellite service to deliver high-speed Internet to customers outside the existing DSL broadband footprint.
Aliant has collaborated with Telesat Canada to offer the two-way broadband satellite service. The connection is made over satellite technology, making it available anywhere within the satellite range.
“We understand the importance of broadband access for our customers, and Aliant has invested both independently and in partnership with government and communities to extend access as far as economically feasible at this time,” said Joe Mosher, Director ISP, Aliant. “Now with a satellite option, customers virtually anywhere across Atlantic Canada can have access to broadband service.”
The availability of a satellite service complements the existing DSL high-speed footprint and dial-up products, and provides customers with a variety of options depending upon their location.
Aliant Satellite High-Speed offers download speeds ranging from 512Kbps to 2Mbps. It includes the satellite equipment, installation, five email addresses, 5Mb personal web space and 24/7 technical support. The service is available at affordable rates beginning at $59.95, with equipment and installation charges available at a monthly rate or in a three-year contract. “Whether at home or for their business, Atlantic Canadians now have a new option to access the tools they need to get online and experience all the benefits that innovation and technology have to offer,” said Mosher. “We’re proud to continue to offer the highest quality of service, choice and convenience for our customers.”
