A $120,000 loan from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is helping an Annapolis Valley soap and candle company launch a line of specialized spa candles that it will sell in Europe and to upscale retailers in the United States,

Burnt Out Solutions of New Minas already sells its environmentally sensitive soy wax candles and hand-poured soaps in 900 American retail stores, but spokeswoman Joanne Humble said Wednesday the federal support is allowing the company to go to more trade shows and pitch two new lines.

Details of that loan and 20 other ACOA financing deals published on the agency’s website in the past month show federal support for a company trying to build an $8.3-million, 90,000-square-foot cargo and distribution warehouse in Dartmouth, improvements to Grand Etang Harbour and the revitalization of main streets in Sydney and Baddeck....
