Atlantic Canada - Aliant customers now have access to the first mobile streaming video clip service in Atlantic Canada via their cellular phone. Streaming TV Clip service, powered by QuickPlay Media, provides customers with unlimited access almost instantly to the latest news headlines, sports updates, weather forecasts, music videos and entertainment TV highlights right on their Aliant multimedia cellular phone.
"We are introducing a new form of mobile entertainment that is available right in the palm of your hand," said Terry Finnigan, General Manager, Aliant Mobility. "Customers with multimedia cell phones will now have unlimited access to the latest news, sports or entertainment TV highlights, over the fastest high-speed wireless network in Atlantic Canada."
Streaming TV Clip service is available to customers who subscribe to a new Enhanced Feature Value 4 package. For only $25 per month, customers will get access to Streaming TV Clips in addition to a vast selection of other voice and data services. Aliant Mobility's exclusive multimedia phones, the new Samsung 900, the Samsung 920 and the Sanyo 7500, all support streaming video clips in their embedded media player. Clips will be updated regularly and will be provided by numerous television broadcasters such as CBC, MuchMusic, Comedy Time and Tribute TV.
"We are excited to be working with Aliant Mobility to provide their customers with this new and leading edge service, which is a first in the Atlantic Canadian marketplace," said Raja Khanna, Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder QuickPlay Media. "Our extensive experience has shown us that streaming video clips provides a superior user experience as video starts playing almost immediately, rather than waiting for the entire clip to download before it can be viewed."
More information about the Samsung 900, the Samsung 920 and the Sanyo 7500 handsets is available at Aliant retail stores, at authorized dealers or online at www.aliant.net.
