A new $11-million software support centre backing up the federal government’s helicopter program will help Nova Scotia carve out a bigger share of the international aerospace business, Premier Rodney MacDonald said Thursday.
Speaking at the groundbreaking for the new General Dynamics facility in Cole Harbour, Mr. MacDonald said having a major military contractor set up shop in the province and offer high-tech jobs can only boost the industry’s profile on the international radar.
"Success breeds success," he said noting the high-tech and aerospace sectors already account for 6,000 jobs and close to $600 million annually in revenue. "With the helicopter program expected to inject $1 billion into the economy over the next two decades, the future looks very bright."...
