Businesses and people who live in the Eastern Shore area can’t wait another four years for high-speed Internet, says Marike Finlay-de Monchy, a freelance writer and publisher.
The provincial government has promised that high-speed service will be available to every area of the province by 2010.
But businesses need access right now, said Ms. Finlay-de Monchy, who co-owns Quoddy’s Run Publishing Solutions in West Quoddy, about 15 kilometres east of Sheet Harbour.
"It is not very nice to ask small businesses along this shore to limp along for four more years," she said Wednesday.
Ms. Finlay-de Monchy, who was a candidate for the Green party in Guysborough-Sheet Harbour in the last provincial election, said she has talked to many business owners who are struggling to survive without a high-speed connection.
