The federal government will make it easier for small businesses to bid for government contracts, Public Works Minister Michael Fortier said Tuesday.
Fortier was in Halifax to promote new measures that are part of the ruling Conservatives’ Accountability Act.
The Tories will introduce a new procurement policy, code of conduct and procurement auditor, all of which Fortier said will make the bidding process more transparent.
"Our purchasing practices should be free of government interference and conducted fairly, so that all companies, regardless of size and location, have the opportunity to compete for government work," Fortier told a group of local businesses.
