supe... supe... superstars.
what makes these people superstars? just because they lucked into managing some companies? if they had started them from scratch, it might be more impressive. it's stupid that people get an article about them when there are so many people looking for stable employment that aint call centre bullshit. |

It is too bad that time and time again it seems that "superstars" have to come from outside the province. The govt and media likes to overlook the work that locals do in IT. Unless your from "away" it rarely seems to be news of importance.
Its funny to see Nortel on the list, being famous for how to screw up a company, lose stock value, and nearly take down half of the Canadian IT sector I guess.
The event seems to be one again focused on getting new students into IT, yet I'm not sure we have a deep enough market yet to support them. Most employers are looking for skilled workers these days, not new grads. Perhaps they should try and increase the local IT sector with local people and firms first and not merely make NS a place to find good cheap skilled workers and payroll and tax rebates. |
