U.S. legislation that would effectively outlaw online gambling won’t hurt Halifax’s SportsDirect Inc., which compiles and sells sports data, says company spokesman Johnston Farrow.
"It doesn’t affect us," he said in an interview Wednesday. "We’re not involved in that part of the industry."
The U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate passed legislation this week prohibiting the use of credit cards, cheques and online fund transfers on Internet gaming sites. If the legislation is signed into law, most Internet gambling will be banned in the U.S....
