It turns out more people wanted information last week about an American porn star turned political candidate and Barbara Walters’s talking dog than wanted to know about world peace or curing cancer, according to Google.

The world’s most popular search engine scans the World Wide Web trying to find answers to the millions of questions it is asked daily.

"We look at query streams; what people are asking us. When do they ask us and how often do they ask us?" said Google research scientist Daniel Russell, who was at Dalhousie University on Wednesday to deliver a lecture...
