Regional council paved the way Tuesday night for an Ontario company to build a $230-million technical support centre that will employ 1,200 people.
Research In Motion, the makers of wireless hand-held computer cellphones called BlackBerrys, chose a 20-hectare property in Bedford once slated for a blood-processing plant.
In order to get its Halifax-area headquarters underway, the company needed council to amend the Bedford West Secondary Planning Strategy.
