Now, thanks to web camera technology, computers and the Internet, Mr. Werner and his wife, Michele, can take a peek at their son at play as often they like.

"I travel a lot," said Mr. Werner said Monday. "If I’m in Sydney or Toronto and I’m unable to get home for the night, it’s fabulous for me to see him throughout the day. I’m sure he’s doing well, but it’s just comforting to see him running and playing, and then I can go back to doing what I’m doing."
