 Call-centre firm rings up new jobs

One of Cape Breton's biggest call centres is looking to hire several hundred more workers.

Stream plans to hire 300 more people for its operation in Glace Bay and another 300 for a new call centre in Sydney Mines set to open early next year.

The announcement was made Friday as the company celebrated its fifth anniversary in Cape Breton.

"If you had told me five years ago that we'd have 1,500 people working at a call centre in Glace Bay, I probably would've said, 'we'll see,' " said Dave Wilson, the local MLA.

Stream is housed in the building that used to be the headquarters for Cape Breton's coal industry, and has become Glace Bay's biggest employer.

The jobs pay between $9.50 and $13 an hour...
