 Software developer makes beautiful music in the U.S.

A Halifax music software developer has struck a major chord in the United States.

"It was extremely well received," said Ian McKinnon, vice-president of Adventus Interactive, referring to the reception the company’s MusIQ Club interactive teaching program got at the recent T+L Conference in Dallas.

The conference was hosted by the National School Board Association of the United States.

"We got terrific feedback," Mr. McKinnon said.

Adventus Interactive was founded in Bridgewater nine years ago by former technology teacher Jim Mullen.

The firm’s keyboard-based teaching software is used in five schools in Nova Scotia, one in Newfoundland and about 15 in the U.S., said Mr. McKinnon, founder of the Celtic rock band Rawlins Cross.

The software has been a great success at Tatamagouche Elementary School, where it was used in a pilot project last year, said teacher Eric Allen...
