Halifax, Nova Scotia - Aliant, Atlantic Canada's leading information and communications technology provider, today launched #TAXI™ (Pound Taxi) in cities and towns across Atlantic Canada. By dialing #-T-A-X-I (#-8-2-9-4) on their wireless devices, customers can now connect to the first available taxi dispatcher at any time with no busy signals. Aliant worked closely with CellWand Communications to bring this convenient, simple-to-use service to their customers.
"Aliant is pleased to offer this convenient, bilingual service to our customers," says Terry Finnigan, General Manager. "With #TAXI our customers are instantly connected to the first available taxi company - a great benefit - especially for customers that simply don't know a local taxi number because they are away from home."
Aliant customers can now instantly access a taxi by dialing #-8-2-9-4 on their wireless device. This enhanced directory assistance service is an innovative way for customers to have direct access to a taxi.
"This is a major step forward in achieving coast-to-coast coverage for #TAXI," said Nick Quain, President, CellWand Communications. "Aliant customers can benefit from using the service in approximately 60 cities and towns in the region - and across Canada - when they are traveling."
CellWand Communications own and manage the #TAXI service and work closely with Aliant to offer it to their wireless customers. The service costs $1.25/call plus airtime.
#TAXI utilizes proprietary databases and voice recognition to allow callers to simply state the name of their city or town in order to be connected. The service includes several unique features including:
• Recommending the first available taxicab companies best able to serve callers; • Allowing the connection to a preferred cab company; and, • Avoiding busy signals For more information on CellWand Communications visit www.cellwand.com. #TAXI is a trademark of CellWand Communications Inc.
