The federal government should create a technology incentive program to help small businesses improve their productivity, says the head of the country’s largest information technology lobby group.
Bernard Courtois, president of the Information Technology Association of Canada, said the majority of small business owners know they could improve the efficiency of their business with greater use of technology, but they still don’t embrace it.
A study by the association released this month says small business owners are more concerned with finding and keeping employees or managing operational costs. Even the small and medium-sized businesses willing to invest in technology complain about the lack of trained staff available, he said.
