Tod Maffin is a technology futurist with a yearning for the past.
"Success is a relative thing," he said during a fast-paced presentation at a conference in Halifax on Thursday hosted by Nova Scotia Business Inc., the province’s economic development agency. "What I want to encourage you to do is not always run your brain in high-tech, because you will eventually go crazy."
Mr. Maffin has been described by the Globe and Mail as "Canada’s foremost cyber-guru." A popular speaker, he hosts a national technology segment on CBC Radio and a technology series on CBC Television’s Canada Now.
One of the Internet’s first webmasters, Mr. Maffin in 1999 launched Mindful Eye, a company that measured public opinion about the stock market from comments posted on the Internet and in the media.
