Aliant Mobility is increasing its cellular system access fee to $8.95 a month.

The increase from $6.95 a month is effective immediately for new customers and will be charged to existing customers effective March 1, said Shirley Fullerton, Aliant’s director of wireless consumer marketing, in an interview Monday.

Ms. Fullerton said the access fee is used by wireless operators to fund the "growth and enhancement" of their networks...
