A giant lawsuit involving adversaries Knowledge House Inc. and National Bank just got even bigger.
Nova Scotia Supreme Court Justice Ted Scanlan has consolidated the case with another action in which the head of Knowledge House, a defunct Halifax e-learning company, is suing Stewart McKelvey, the company’s former law firm.
While the cases are distinct, much of the evidence would be the same at both trials. Hearing the cases separately would result in an "unnecessary duplication of evidence and unnecessary expense and burden on the administration of justice," the judge said in a decision released Friday.
"Consolidation should not in any way substantially delay the eventual trial start date."
