Efforts are underway to find a new tenant to occupy a call centre building in Port Hawkesbury when EDS Canada pulls out this spring.
Dan Fougere, president of the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce, noted Nova Scotia Business Inc. is heading up a newly formed action team, with support from his group, the Strait-Highlands Regional Development Agency and the provincial Department of Economic Development.
NSBI officials briefed chamber board members at a meeting last week on the marketing effort. Both EDS and the owner of the building have been co-operative, Fougere added. “There are several companies showing interest in the site but the process is both competitive and confidential at this early stage,” he said. “We take heart in knowing we have a state-of-the-art building and a trained workforce, some of whom have up to five years experience. We’re trying to find the right fit for the community.”
