Distance education isn’t a new thing in Nova Scotia, but it appears the province plans to expand it to more public schools and make it easier for more students to access.
The Education Department closed tenders a week ago in its search for companies to provide software and equipment to ensure that students don’t miss out on courses just because their school doesn’t offer something.
"The most urgent need is for students from small schools," Mike Jeffrey, the department’s director of learning resources and technology, said in an interview Friday.
"But certainly there would be a benefit to all students in the province if they get to Grade 12 and realize there’s a course they need."
