All the hard work residents of Tidnish and Port Howe have put in to having high speed Internet connected through their communities has finally paid off. The first pole of the province’s broadband initiative is erected, and it won’t be long before residents of the pilot project are surfing wirelessly at high speeds.
“The province considers broadband connectivity now as one of the essential pieces of critical infrastructure in the province,” said Dan MacDonald, president and CEO of InNOVAcorp, who was chosen to lead the project based on his background. MacDonald was providing a community update Monday to county councilors and other residents.
With the first pole erected and the gears already in place, service provider Eastlink was on site yesterday working to have customers online before the end of the month. By the end of the week, the range the wireless service will go should be known. Before the end of March, all poles should be up and commissioned, with all residents connecting via high speed.
