The provincial government is playing matchmaker between web-savvy job-seekers and employers looking to satisfy their technology needs. “We are projecting at least 2,500 job openings in three years for people with IT skills,” said Premier Rodney MacDonald. “That’s why I’m pleased to officially launch www.techportjobs.com, Nova Scotia’s dedicated IT job site.”
MacDonald helped launch the site at Cape Breton University Friday. Already, more than 60 job postings are listed on the site including an opening at Virtual Media Productions.
Shawn Green, vice-president of the Sydney company, said he’s looking for a web and data base programmer and was told to advertise the position on the new site. “Folks in the IT sector were collectively discussing the need for this type of portal, one that would connect employers with people interested in living and working here,” said Green. “Hopefully, it will become a top-of-mind resource.” ...
