TORONTO — Research In Motion Ltd. had a US$187.9-million profit in its latest quarter as revenue increased 66 per cent from a year earlier, the maker of the BlackBerry reported in preliminary results Wednesday.
Revenue for RIM’s fourth quarter ended March 3 was US$930.4 million, up from US$561.2 million in the same quarter of last year, with 1.02 million new BlackBerry subscriber accounts in the latest period.
The Waterloo, Ont.-based company, which reports in U.S. dollars, said net income amounted to 99 cents per share. Excluding employee stock-option expense, adjusted earnings were $192.8 million, or $1.01 per share...
