 Former Bell Aliant exec describes resignation as ‘nice exit’

Paul Kent has left his job as head of xwave and as a senior vice-president at Bell Aliant.

Mr. Kent, who spent four years as chief operating officer of xwave and senior vice-president of enterprise solutions at Bell Aliant, confirmed Tuesday he resigned both posts. His last day on the job was Friday.

Xwave, a Bell Aliant subsidiary, provides information technology services.

Mr. Kent said it was the right time to go, and he wanted to leave on a high note.

"I came at a challenging time for the xwave organization. It was not in very good shape when I arrived, and it is far stronger today," he said by phone from his backyard in Dartmouth, where he was enjoying the sunshine.

"I started a conversation with the organization a couple of months ago about potentially leaving on a high note. . . I managed a nice exit, really. There isn’t any larger story."

David Rathbun, Bell Aliant’s former chief of human resources, has taken over as head of xwave, said Brenda Reid, a spokeswoman for Bell Aliant...
