AND THEN THERE were three.
There are just three Cape Breton businesses left competing for the chance to receive $100,000 in cash and in-kind contributions toward implementing their business plan in a competition spearheaded by Innovacorp, the province’s Crown corporation promoting small business development in the technology and life science sectors.
The finalists are Steve Manley of xtal design labs inc., a Sydney firm developing control and data acquisition systems that can be customized by customers; Chad Munro of Halifax Biomedical Devices in Mabou for the development of a spinal fusion assessment system, a method for assessing fusion success following spinal fusion surgery; and Bobby MacLean of Post Boom Inc. of North Sydney for commercialization of the company’s existing fire services information management system.
Each of the finalists will give an oral pitch of their innovations and business plans to judges later this month. The entrepreneurs will receive training and one-on-one business guidance on their pitches before they are made. The winner will be announced on June 1.
