IT’S BEEN SEVERAL weeks now since I dutifully rounded up my tax documents and put them in a neat little pile on the corner of my desk, ready for the annual tussle with the tax form.
Like many taxpayers, I pledged somewhere around the RRSP deadline to get to the task earlier this year. There would be no last-minute dash to the post office to beat the April 30 midnight deadline.
With those commitments in mind, I hunkered down on the weekend with a pencil, lots of coffee and three different tax preparation software packages. Heck, if I’ve got to do such a miserable task, I might as well involve a little technology and really mess it up.
