Chief information officers (CIOs) expect an uptick in information technology (IT) hiring in the third quarter of 2006, according to the Robert Half Technology IT Hiring Index and Skills Report. Almost 15% of executives polled plan to add IT staff in the next three months, and 3% anticipate cutbacks. The net 12% hiring increase is up two percentage points from the previous quarter’s forecast.
Key Findings of the study, which included responses from more than 270 CIOs from Canadian companies with 100 or more employees, include:
--Business growth is the primary motivation for adding IT staff;
--Windows administration (Server 2000/2003) is the hottest skill set;
--Executives in the professional services, business services and the finance industry are most optimistic about hiring activity...
