 SuperCity going offline?

Hundreds of dial-up customers who use SuperCity Internet Services of Dartmouth to surf the web may soon need to find a new provider.

Customers report that access to the Internet through the company server has been spotty over the last week and an e-mail sent by the firm’s system administrator Wednesday suggested the business was on the verge of collapse. In the e-mail, Bill Davidson said the owner of the business, John McNeil, has been hospitalized and the remaining employees "have serious doubts about the viability of the business going forward."

"In all seriousness, I do not expect there to be a SuperCity Internet by this time next week."

The e-mail went on to indicate that he and another employee had tendered their resignations and urged customers to make new arrangements.

John Woods, executive director of the Electricity Consumers Alliance of Nova Scotia, had an e-mail account with the firm and was one of dozens of businesses with a website hosted by SuperCity. He said his e-mail account and website disappeared last Tuesday night...
