 RIM comes in ahead of expectations on healthy BlackBerry sales

Research In Motion Ltd., maker of the BlackBerry handheld device, performed better than analysts had predicted in the first quarter this year, as the number of subscribers, revenue and profit all shot straight up from the previous quarter.

Profit, however, slipped from year-earlier levels when RIM was still enmeshed in its long patent battle with NTP Inc. That litigation was settled earlier this year, just before the first quarter began.

"RIM delivered a solid quarter with strong revenue, earnings and subscriber results," said Jim Balsillie, RIM's chairman and co-chief executive officer. "BlackBerry's ongoing competitive dominance is driving strong growth in existing markets and fuelling substantial international expansion."

It was a busy quarter for the Waterloo, Ont.-company. RIM acquired Ascendant Systems and announced new relationships with IBM, Yahoo and Vodafone. It also launched its products in a host of countries...

I heard RIM was going to build themselves a new building in Dartmouth, anyone know where? will it be in Dartmouth Crossing? There all tech support jobs anyways but be good to know. Maybe they can get the space by Gallery1. ;D

I doubt it would be dartmouth crossing, that's more a retail environment. i heard they might build or buy a building in bedford. They might just buy the building they are in now though. they showed it in the chronically horrid a month or two ago when they put the sign up.
